There are the equipment, I used. Soda Ash , Sodium Bicarbonate , Manutex, Synthropol.

The technique that I did was fabric painting . First I did a screen printing , then I did painting . This technique requires focusing  and accuracy  ensuring that the dye doesn't go over the line.

For different fabric , you will need a cloth to put on top of the fabric . For silk fabric its important to put it on a low steam , and put a cloth on top to ensure that the fabric doesn't burn when ironing. This should be done more than 5 time , so the dye is fixed.
Leave it for 48hrs.
Get two buckets of water , this can be done in the sink , but I prefer to do it in the bucket. One of the bucket should have cold water the other should have warm water with 1tsp of Synthropol.
First put your fabric in the cold water , take care when doing this , make sure you hand the fabric well. I leave it in for 5mins when I take it out , I hold it careful , then I put it in the other  bucket that has the Synthropol, I stir my fabric , so the water soak the fabric , I do this for 20mins . Then I get the fabric out . If the dye is blend then quickly put it in the synthropol mixture for 10mins.
Wants the fabric is ok , get two towel put the bottom towel on the floor then put the fabric on top , then put the other towel on top of the fabric. Then leave this over night so that the fabric has dried.

For my project , I  focuses on traditions , I wanted to looked at prints because I  like the idea of having a print that tells a story . I've always been interested in Music and Art but for me , I just like the way that Music and Food and Dance can be combined together to create an interesting print.

Summer is about wearing bright cool colours.  I think  certain colours work well and make the print look different . Colour definitely has an impact on how we see things , I just like the idea of combining cool and bright  colours  for my work .  For the woman's shirt , I really like the idea of using bright colours , but  I wanted to make the men's shirt slightly less colourful .

I love both prints because it is   different too each other but it also shows what kind of ideas I wanted to go for . The male print is tribal because of the kind of instruments  used and the way  the design is placed .

This is a sketch of what I'm hoping my final design will look like.

I would have taken this design  further because I really liked the instrument however I needed to add colour to make it more traditional. The drums does not lend itself to many colours  and technique such as tie and dye hence I have opted for the design below of maracas and oranges .

I wanted to go with a tropical theme , so I went with the colour orange because I felt that it works well with the drums .

This is where I got my  inspiration from .  In theses illustration I just like the colours that the artist uses and the way the prints have been placed.

I attended the Fashion and Textile Museum  ,  I am a fan of Pablo Picasso's work ,  I like the way his work has a unique style , I love the colours he uses.

"This exhibition traces the history of 20th century art in textiles. Highlights include work by Georges Braque, Alexander Calder, Marc Chagall, Salvador Dalí, Sonia Delaunay, Raoul Dufy, Barbara Hepworth, Fernand Léger, Henri Matisse, Joan Miró, Henry Moore, Pablo Picasso, Ben Nicholson and Andy Warhol.
The exhibition features examples of key European and American art movements: Fauvism, Cubism, Constructivism, Abstraction, Surrealism and Pop Art; as well as the work of leading fashion designers and manufacturers. Artist Textiles shows how ordinary people were once able to engage with modern art in a personal and intimate way through their clothing and home furnishings. With over 200 rare pieces, many of which have not been on public display before." (http://ftmlondon.org/ftm-exhibitions/artist-textiles-picasso-to-warhol/)
When I went to the Museum , I saw all the floral print  and the bright colours that were used in the artist work.  I looked at how these print could be used in men's clothing. This was  when I started to examine the contrast between women's clothing and men's clothing . When I looked closely at his work I focused on colour and style and how his work differs from each other.

Well what can I say, I definitely believe that unique styles exist .  I'm a fashion student , who loves  fashion , everyday I'm learning new skills and I like the opportunity to try new things . I like a challenge and that's what I like to focus on when creating my own design . For me ,  fashion is about showing my own style . I really like the idea of researching about Culture , Art and anything that inspires me.  I've done sewing for 2 years  ,   and what I love, is seeing the process of what I've created from the beginning to the end .  We all know that making clothes  takes time but for me I like to enjoy what I do .  I just like the idea that before making a garment , I look at the process of how I came up with the design . First I like to start  off with research , then think of design ideas and move onto looking at creating my own patterns for my garment  . I just like the idea that  fashion is about creating things that is innovative and personal.

At the moment I'm working on two garments  , my project focuses on season . I've gone with the idea of making a shirt because it is  formal but I want to see how I can make the shirt different  by applying patterns onto it. I've always liked  bright colours , I don't tend to wear matching colours but when it comes to creating and designing  a garment , I focus on how the colours of the fabric goes well with the style of the garment.
